Microsurgical testicular sperm extraction (microTESE) is a surgical procedure used to retrieve sperm from inside a man’s testes (organs that produce sperm)
It is used for men with non-obstructive azoospermia, which is when a man cannot produce enough sperm to have a detectable amount in his semen, a common cause of male infertility.
Micro TESE procedure is performed in the following cases-
Micro-TESE procedure is performed when the goal is pregnancy but is not possible without help. It is for men who have little or no sperm in semen, or men who are not able to ejaculate.
In these cases, sperm can be collected from other parts of the reproductive tract. To obtain better pregnancy rates, Micro TESE process is used with in IVF and intracytoplasmic sperm injection (ICSI).

The Micro-TESE surgery is carried out in the outpatient clinic. Its duration is usually between 1.5 – 3 hours depending on the intraoperative findings and the patient can leave the clinic 4 hours post the surgery. We carry out the surgery under general anaesthesia. You will have no pain during the surgery. After the surgery, an uncomfortable feeling and pressure in the operating area, especially when walking or during physical exertion, are possible. Severe pain is not expected after this surgery. The symptoms can be alleviated by resting, cooling the scrotum and pain killers (occasionally).
After the surgery, you will be need rest for a week. You should avoid heavy physical exertion or sports activities within 4 weeks from the surgery. The patient is expected to visit the clinic 1-2 days after the surgery for check-up.
